Sangrur, November 14

Three residents of Sangrur’s Changaliwala village have been booked by the Lehra police for forcing Jagmale Singh, a Dalit, to drink urine.

Jagmale Singh said he had an altercation with accused Rinku, his father and Lucky earlier this month but the matter was sorted out.

He alleged on November 7, Rinku called him to his house where he was thrashed. When he asked for water, he was forced to drink urine.

Punjab State SC Commission member Poonam Kangra claimed a case was lodged only after she intervened. — TNS
