Reacting to Union Minister Harsimrat Badal’s allegations that the state government was undermining the authority of Akal Takht during the ongoing preparations for the 550th Guru Nanak Gurpurb, CM Capt Amarinder Singh today termed her to be the “most ill-informed woman”.

Addressing the media, the CM said, “Akal Takht is the seat of sixth Guru and the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs. Every Sikh bows his head there. Kehri maa da bacha hai jehra Akal Takht agge ja ke akhan chak sakda? (How can anyone to show disrespect to Akal Takht?) I find her completely illogical. I don’t know how she functions in Delhi?”

He reiterated his appeal to all to cut across party lines to jointly and celebrate the historic event and refrain from interfering in religious affairs.

On Bargari probe, he blamed the SAD for scuttling it through the CBI. “It was the duty of the Centre to accept the state Assembly resolution withdrawing the sacrilege cases from the national agency.”

Questioning the rationale of the CBI actions, the CM asked what was stopping it from handing over the cases to the SIT after filing a closure report suggesting that it had found no wrong committed in the matter. “What stopped the Badals from constituting an SIT to probe these cases?”
