Jalandhar, May 22

BSP candidate Balwinder Kumar said on Wednesday that though the administration could be honest, with EVMs, tampering possibility couldn’t be ruled out. “A strong vigil is required until 6 am tomorrow. I will come tonight and stay there till the morning of the counting,” he said.

With the AAP and the Congress skipping watching over EVMs in the district, BSP workers have been keeping a watchful eye on strongrooms on a rotation basis. Neither Congress MP Santokh Chaudhary nor AAP candidate Zora Singh visited the centres nor deputed any men from their parties to keep a vigil.

Chaudhary Santokh said, “I trust the system. I don’t think there is need to keep a watch. The BSP will do it for us. They have men there.” The BSP candidate said, “The administration assured us then men who entered on Tuesday were government officers. But we are not taking any chance.” — TNS
