Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Wednesday made an impromptu stop at the Bahadurpur Mandi on Sangrur-Faridkot road to take stock of the ongoing wheat procurement.

He pulled up officials for not buying the wheat from farmers, who complained to the chief minister that they have been waiting for three days in the mandis in hope of FCI buying their grain.

The chief minister was informed by some farmers that FCI officials were not picking up their produce because of high moisture content.

Capt Amarinder made the FCI official at the mandi check the moisture content and directed that produce with less than 12 per cent moisture be picked up immediately.
