Fazilka, April 22
Enraged over the murder of a businessman of Jalalabad town, Suman Mutneja (55), traders of Fazilka and Jalalabad towns observed strike today. However, the police claimed to have arrested four persons involved in the murder.
The traders shut their shops in protest against “deteriorating” law and order situation. Even chemists also observed a strike. Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police, Ferozepur Range, and SSP Deepak Hilori conducted a press conference in Jalalabad and claimed to have arrested four persons allegedly involved in the murder.
The accused have been identified as Amandeep Singh, Davinder Singh, Pargat Singh and Sukhpal Singh, all residents of Jalalabad. The police have also recovered a revolver from Amandeep. The police claimed that the accused abducted Mutneja on April 18, tied his hand and legs and threw him and his car in the canal. — OC
