Chief Electoral Officer Dr S Karuna Raju today wrote a letter to the Principal Secretary, Transport, to issue an advisory to public and private bus service providers. He said many incidents came into light where buses were used to carry money and valuables from one place to other.

He said many nakas had been set up in the state to check buses and other vehicles. "If unaccounted money, foreign currency, illegal arms, valuables, gold, silver, intoxicants and any other things are found in buses, it would cause inconvenience to the passengers. To avoid such a situation, bus operators should remain vigilant and take necessary action in this regard," he said.

Dr Raju appealed to the bus owners to sensitise their staff on the matter as it also adversely affected the election process. "If any incident of illegal activities comes to light, strict action would be taken," he said.

The CEO has also written to the ACS, Health, for issuance of advice to public and private ambulance service providers to stick to the code of conduct and prevent misuse of the service.
