Patiala, April 17

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to have a separate manifesto for each of the 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. Kicking off their campaign in Patiala, party’s poll campaign committee chairman Aman Arora said they would soon release their manifesto separately for each constituency.

Addressing a press conference here, the Sunam MLA said the party would prepare constituency-based manifesto to address local issues. He said, “We believe every constituency has its own issues. We want voters to know that we are aware of those issues and will strive to address them.”

Calling Patiala constituency a litmus test for the party, Arora said the party would seek votes on AAP’s performance in Delhi. “I challenge the Congress to compare their work in Punjab with ours in Delhi.”

Takht to probe ‘offensive’ remark by AAP nominee

Amritsar: The Akal Takht has taken cognisance of AAP Khadoor Sahib candidate Manjinder Singh Sidhu’s remark comparing party convener Arvind Kejriwal with Guru Gobind Singh.

It is learnt that a complaint has been received by Akal Takht, alleging that Sidhu, when asked in an interview about Kejriwal’s apology to SAD general secretary Bikram Singh Majithia, he justified it by citing an “incident” in Sikh history. This statement has evoked resentment among the Sikh community. — TNS
