Sarvjit Singh (19), son of Ghurka village sarpanch Darshan Singh, has been allegedly beaten to death by a former sarpanch and his accomplices here.

Darshan Singh alleged that former sarpanch of Ghurka village Narinder Singh, his son Sandeep Singh and others attacked his son with iron rods accusing him of teasing a girl.

He said when they reached the spot, the assailants fled. Sarvjit was rushed to the local Civil Hospital, from where he was taken to a private hospital in neighbouring Srigangangar district. He succumbed to his injuries on Friday morning. — OC
