New Left party’s first meet today

The newly formed Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI) led by former CPM leader Mangat Ram Pasla will hold its first four-day conference here, starting tomorrow.

Pasla, general secretary of the party, told the media that about 300 delegates representing 14 states would participate.

“The conference will adopt a programme for the revolutionary transformation of the Indian society into a one that will be classless, casteless and secular,” he said.

The party leader further said the draft to be discussed in this respect underlined the need to learn from various mass struggles waged by the Indian masses throughout history, along with applying scientific teachings of Marxism-Leninism for analysing the problems in the country.

“The RMPI will combine both the extra-parliamentary and the parliamentary struggles for the realisation of its goal,” he said.

Pasla added the RMPI would strive to unite all the Left and democratic forces.

The conference will elect the central committee of the party and its office-bearers along with a control commission. It will conclude on November 26 with a public meeting at Dashera ground in Mohali.
