Minister exhorts NRI youth to connect to roots

CHANDIGARH: A high-level delegation from Punjab, led by Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, is attending the three-day Youth Parvasi Bharti Divas celebrations, which commenced today at Varanasi.

A high-level delegation from Punjab, led by Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, is attending the three-day Youth Parvasi Bharti Divas celebrations, which commenced today at Varanasi. The minister exhorted the NRI Punjabi youth to connect with their roots back home in Punjab.

He extended warm invitation to all the members of the NRI diaspora to participate in the 550th Gurpurb celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev, which are being organised by the Punjab government. He also invited those who came to attend the Youth Parvasi Bharti Divas celebrations to pay obeisance at Darbar Sahib. The minister exhorted the NRIs to be partners in the Tandarust Mission of the state government and invest in their home state Punjab.

Rana Sodhi said Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had initiated a scheme, titled ‘Connect with your roots’, which is aimed at helping the NRI community connect with their roots back home. He said the state government had created a congenial atmosphere, besides giving a facelift to the religious, historical as well as tourist places in order to ensure hassle-free experience for all tourists and devotees.
