Ludhiana, October 18

Capt Sandeep Singh Sandhu, Congress candidate from the Dakha Assembly segment, today lashed out at SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia for "trying to intimidate police officials" ahead of the polling day.

Condemning Majithia for storming a police station here, Capt Sandhu said this was clear act of hooliganism aimed at threatening and intimidating police officers. “I understand your desperation and frustration as the ground has already slipped beneath your feet, but that does not mean you out your frustration at the police and government officials”, he said, while referring to the SAD leader.

Referring to a video being circulated through social media groups wherein Manpreet Singh Ayali is reportedly seen preventing police officials from arresting an accused, he said, “elections provide no immunity to the criminals and the law should be allowed to take its own course.”

Meanwhile, the situation remained tense in the Assembly segment. Dakha Station House Officer Kikkar Singh said they were looking into the matter and would take action after verifying the Akali Dal’s complaint.
