Ludhiana, August 16

The court of Sessions Judge Gurbir Singh on Thursday reserved the order on the plea of Vigilance Bureau’s (VB) former SSP Kanwarjit Singh Sandhu.

He had filed the application for hearing him before passing any order on the closure report filed by the VB giving a clean chit to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh in the City Centre case.

Lawyers representing the former police officer claimed that the former officer was the real complainant and required to be heard as per law.

Refuting the contentions, Director Prosecution Vijay Singla asserted that the former SSP could not be treated as a complainant.

The draft FIR was prepared by the higher officer and he (former SSP) only signed it being the then SSP, Vigilance Bureau.

After hearing the rival contentions, the court adjourned the case. Vigilance Bureau SSP Rupinder Singh and District Attorney Ravinder Abrol also joined the proceedings. — TNS
