Chandigarh/Sultanpur Lodhi, November 8

The holy city of Sultanpur Lodhi returned to normal on Friday after a heavy downpour caused the district administration to scramble all their resources days before 550th Parkash Purb celebrations are held there.

Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner DPS Kharbanda deployed some 1,000 personnel from various departments to deal with the situation.

A government press release said Kharbanda visited all three tented areas—Guru Nanak Nagar I, Guru Nanak Nagar II and Guru Nanak Nagar III—at  Maachijoa, Taraf Behbal Bahadur, and Randhipur villages.

“Inclement weather conditions are beyond human control but with planning and meticulously designed strategy the administration was able to pass the first litmus test,” the press release quoted Kharbanda, who oversaw the clean up, as saying.
