Amritsar, June 16

On a pilgrimage to historic Sikh shrines in Pakistan, a Sikh jatha on Saturday observed Shaheedi Diwas of the fifth Sikh Guru, Arjan Dev, there.

The SGPC will observe the day here on Sunday. This has led to a row over double dates for the same occasion.

A religious programme was held at Lahore’s Gurdwara Dehra Sahib in which apart from Indian and Pakistani Sikhs, officials of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and AUKAF Board were present. A section of the Sikh sangat raised slogans for implementing the original Nanakshahi calendar and opening of two more gurdwaras in Pakistan, associated with the fifth Guru.

Meanwhile, the SGPC will observe the Shaheedi Gurpurb as per the amended Nanakshahi calendar on Sunday (June 17).
