Chandigarh, March 10

Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar today dismissed Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal’s allegations about the Congress legislators interfering in the government functioning or being involved in illegal sand mining.

Questioning the moral authority of the SAD chief to accuse Congress legislators of indulging in illegal mining, Jakhar said: “It is an irony that the person who looted the state resources for 10 years was now trying to shift the blame on the Congress.”

Amritsar: Jakhar questioned the silence of Akali leaders in Parliament over the policies of the NDA government. He was in the city to attend the “bhog” of eight locals who died in a road accident in Himachal Pradesh last week. He announced financial aid of Rs2 lakh to each family. The SGPC too gave Rs50,000 to each victim’s family.
