Inspector, sister stabbed to death in Kapurthala

KAPURTHALA: A police officer and his sister were stabbed to death on Saturday night, police said on Sunday. The victims were identified as Inspector Chandan Kumar, who was posted at Kapurthala, and his sister Bindu Bala.

A police officer and his sister were stabbed to death on Saturday night, police said on Sunday.

The victims were identified as Inspector Chandan Kumar, who was posted at Kapurthala, and his sister Bindu Bala. Their brother Deepak Kumar has been arrested in the case.

Police said it was Chandan who informed them before his condition deteriorated. Bindu Bala was killed almost instantly, but Chandan Kumar died on his way to a hospital, police added.  

Lakhbir Singh, additional deputy commissioner of police, said Chandan, along with his sister and brother, was living at Diamond Avenue located on the Majitha Road here. He was a divorcee.

Deepak told the police that he was unmarried and the duo was refusing every prospect of his marriage. 

Further investigation into the incident is under way.
