Despite tall claims of the state government of having made the delivery of services better, nothing seems to have changed on ground, at least for Jagseer Singh, a local farmer.
He claims that he had completed all formalities for getting the death certificate of his uncle in February last year, but it has not yet been issued.
He says he has been making rounds of Dirba Sewa Kendra for more than 11 months now.
As per details, his uncle Jangir Singh (90) died on November 9, 2017. After arranging all required documents, including an affidavit attested by the magistrate concerned, report from the Registrar of Births and Deaths, proof of death from hospital, receipt of immersion of ashes and form no. 2, he applied for the death certificate on February 17, 2018.
“But till date I have not received the certificate. I have the receipt of application that I submitted at the Sewa Kendra to prove my claim. The delay has created problems for my family. My uncle had no child and as per his will, his two acres of land should be transferred to me and my brothers. For that, we need his death certificate,” says Jagseer Singh.
As per the receipt, the authorities were supposed to deliver the certificate by April 9. “Earlier, the staff at the Sewa Kendra refused to give reasons behind the delay. Now they say they have lost the file and that I need to submit a fresh set of documents. This is cruel. I want the government to take strict action against the officials concerned,” he says. Gurjant Singh, district manager of Dr IT, the firm that runs the Sewa Kendra in Sangrur, said he was unaware of this issue. “There must be some technical reason. I will check,” he said.
When contacted, Dirba SDM Deepak Rohela, too, said he would look into the matter. “I have not received any complaint in this connection. I will take appropriate action if there is any lapse on part of the officials,” he said.
