Patiala, September 18

Days after an emissary of AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal asked him to return to the party fold, local MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi on Tuesday said the Delhi Chief Minister should first acknowledge Punjab’s right to seek autonomy for itself within the Indian Union through peaceful means.

He said, “Just as Delhi is struggling for full statehood, I stand for Punjab’s autonomy within the Union.” The MP added, “Punjab needs a political programme specific to its needs, tailored to suit its specificities and future generations.” “The fulfilment of these conditions is necessary to reverse the disintegration process that shattered the hopes of a third alternative in Punjab,” he said.
