The police here claimed to have arrested five youths and recovered Rs 3.60 lakh that was allegedly snatched at Amloh town yesterday. The motorcycle used for crime was also recovered. During interrogation it came to light that it was a drama enacted by the younger brother to grab Rs 2 lakh of his elder brother, which he had borrowed from him.

Addressing mediapersons here today, Amneet Kondal, SSP, Fatehgarh Sahib, said Kuldeep Singh, owner of a mobile shop-cum-money exchange in Amloh town, yesterday reported to the police that his younger brother Amandeep along with his friend Ravinder Shah had gone to deposit Rs 3.60 lakh in a bank, but they did not return. He said he found them unconscious near the Nahar Sugar Mill and they told him that motorcycle-borne youths snatched the amount by throwing chilli powder in their eyes.

The SSP said after watching CCTV footage, the police traced the motorcycle and arrested two youths, identified as Gurdeep Singh and Gurvir Singh, and recovered a share of the amount. Kondal said they revealed that Amandeep had taken Rs 2 lakh loan from his elder brother and to grab that money he concocted the story and called his friend Jaspreet, who introduced him to Gurdeep and Gurvir. He promised to pay them Rs 50,000 each. All five have been booked under various Sections of the IPC.
