Barnala, August 14

Five former AAP leaders from Mehal Kalan constituency have been booked for allegedly misbehaving with the security staff of party MP Bhagwant Mann.

The Mehal Kalan police have registered a case against Nirmal Singh, Karamjit Singh, Pargat Singh, Gagan and Amandeep Singh under Sections 353, 186, 341, 174 and 149 of the IPC.

In his complaint, Lakhvir Singh, a constable posted with Mann, alleged that the accused misbehaved with him on Monday when the MP was leaving Pandori village after the cremation of Kaka Singh, father of AAP MLA Kulwant Singh Pandori. He also alleged that the accused tore his clothes.

Karamjit Singh, former AAP office incharge, Mehal Kalan, said: “We helped Mann win the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Now, he has no time to spare for us. We did not misbehave with his security staff. Rather, they misbehaved with us when we tried to meet him.”

“Mann must remember that these leaders worked hard for him. It’s surprising that he has got an FIR registered against them through his security guard. I strongly condemn this action,” said Pirmal Singh Dhaula, AAP MLA from Bhadaur. When contacted, ASI Kulwinder Singh said he had started an investigation into the case.

Arrest cops named in sacrilege report: Khaira

Patiala: Rebel AAP leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Tuesday said all those named in the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report should be arrested. Khaira was in the city to hold a meeting with party volunteers."We will hold a protest march from Bargari to Faridkot on August 20 to seek action against officers involved in the Behbal Kalan firing case. Action should also be taken against others responsible for the act, including the Badals," he said. On factionalism in AAP, Khaira said: "While party convener Arvind Kejriwal is demanding rights from the Centre, he is not allowing the state unit to function independently." TNS
