Father, an Army veteran, wants befitting reply to Pak

Pandori Sukh Singh village in Ajnala tehsil today remembered its brave son, Satnam Singh, a Gunner with 31 Field Regiment, who sacrificed his life during an encounter with militants at an Army camp in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

His body arrived last evening at Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji International Airport and was cremated with military honours at his native village.

A large number of villagers attended the cremation and expressed their condolences to the family.

The soldier is survived by his wife and a three-year-old son.

Martyr’s father Partap Singh, an Army veteran, said he fought two wars for the country and was proud that his son laid down his life for the nation. He urged thegovernment and the Army to give a befitting reply to Pakistan.

Ajnala Sub-Divisional Magistrate Surinder Singh, Deputy Director Sainik Welfare Col GS Gill and Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagatpreet Singh were among those present.
