Amritsar, October 9

Intervening in the matter of Sarna brothers and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) organising separate nagar kirtans from Delhi to Nankana Sahib to commemorate the 550th Gurpurb, Akal Takht today directed the latter to postpone its programme scheduled to commence from October 13.

Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said two nagar kirtans commencing from the same place would lead to confusion among the sangat. He said it was also learnt that the Pakistan Government had permitted only one nagar kirtan, so he stopped the work of gold palanquin.

The Jathedar asked the sangat to cooperate with HS Sarna and PS Sarna in organising the religious procession, which would commence from October 28. He said the devotees had approached Akal Takht to prevail on the organisers to hold only one procession from a city with Khalsai traditions.

The Jathedar also directed the gurdwaras, which had installed separate donation boxes for preparing a gold palanquin, to withdraw the same. He added that they must submit the report of this collection at Akal Takht secretariat.
