Drug supplier arrested for addict’s death

FAZILKA: After the suspension of Chak Vairoke Station House Officer Lekh Raj in the death case of a drug addict, the alleged drug supplier, Sheelo Bai, was finally arrested by the police.

After the suspension of Chak Vairoke Station House Officer Lekh Raj in the death case of a drug addict, the alleged drug supplier, Sheelo Bai, was finally arrested by the police.

Sheelo Bai of Mahalam village was on the run after allegedly supplying drugs to addict 28-year-old Beant Singh, resulting in his death on December 2 in the village.

Beant Singh had died allegedly due to overdose of drugs. Beant Singh’s cousin Gurpreet Singh had alleged that he and Beant Singh had gone to Mahalam village to buy drugs from Sheelo Bai.

When they were on the way back on a motorcycle, Beant Singh, who was riding pillion, fell from the motorcycle and died allegedly due to drug overdose. Sheelo Bai was booked under Section 304 of the IPC.

The family members of Beant Singh and villagers had staged a protest outside the police station on December 5 against police “inaction” in the case, following which the Station House Officerwas suspended.
