Chandigarh October 17

Akali Dal patron Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday said he was committed to strengthening the communal bond in the state. “I am not afraid of threat to my life. I would consider it a matter of honour to sacrifice my life for peace and communal harmony,” he said.

“Elements set on the path to disturb peace in the state have the support of the Congress. They are still active and wish to force the Sikh masses into the deadly bloodbath similar to that of the 1980s,” Badal alleged.

He said he didn’t require the security cover offered by the Congress government. He urged CMCapt Amarinder Singh “to stop playing the dangerous games to cause communal tension”. — TNS
