Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Khaira today demanded dismissal of Irrigation and Power Minister Rana Gurjit Singh from the Cabinet and a CBI probe into the deals allegedly involving the minister in the sand mining business.

Producing documents and the Justice Narang Commission report on sand mining, Khaira said there was strong evidence that Rana Gurjit had pumped money from his RGS Traders Pvt Ltd Co into the sole proprietorship firm Rajbir Enterprises that paid 50 per cent money to bag the mining contracts of controversial sand mines of Saidpur Khurd and Mehdipur in Nawanshahar district in May.

As per the records of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Rana Gurjit and Rana Hardeep Singh were the first directors of the company, RGS Traders, which bagged mining contracts when Rana became a minister, he said.

As per documents submitted to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the address of RGS Traders Co was SCO 49-50, Sector 8, Chandigarh, which was also the address of Rana Sugars owned by the tainted minister. The email id of RGS Traders Co info@ranagroup.com was also the official email id of Rana Sugars Ltd, Rana Polycot Ltd and Rana Informatics Ltd, the other companies of the minister, he said.

He said the minister and his wife Rajbans Kaur had also taken a loan of Rs 4.07 crore from RGS Traders Co, as per his poll papers filed.

He said as the state government had not initiated any action, only a CBI inquiry could unearth the details of conversation about pressure exerted upon the Director to illegally allot the mines to his alleged front men.
