Amarbir Singh Dhot was nominated as the president of the Sikh Students Federation (Mehta), a splinter group of the All-India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF), in the presence of Akal Takht acting Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh here today.

In a separate event, former president of AISSF Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad-supported faction has nominated Jagroop Singh Cheema as convener who has been entrusted with the responsibility of running the body on ad hoc basis.

The AISSF, which was founded in 1944, is now divided into various factions. Expressing concern, Giani Harpreet Singh said efforts should be made to bring back all these groups on one platform. — TNS
