Patiala, January 11

Hours after the Education Department reopened the online portal for SSA/RMSA teachers to opt for regularisation of service at a monthly salary of Rs 15,300, teachers of the Sanjha Adhyapak Morcha announced to restart protest from Saturday.

They announced to protest outside the houses of Congress MLAs, MPs and ministers on January 12 and January 13. They said the government had failed to fulfil promises made by Education Minister OP Soni on December 1 after which the 57-day-long agitation was ended in Patiala. The morcha said neither the teachers’ transfers were cancelled, which were done during the agitation, nor their meeting with the Chief Minister could take place.

Hardeep Toderpur, co-convener, Sanjha Adhyapak Morcha, said, “Once again the Education Minister has backtracked from his promise of not reopening the online portal until the meeting with the CM took place.” — TNS
