Protesting against yesterday’s incident of tossing of turbans and manhandling of Opposition MLAs, the SAD-BJP and AAP MLAs trooped out of the Assembly minutes after the session resumed today.

The SAD-BJP MLAs wore black robes to protest against the turban tossing incident. Even non-Sikh MLAs were seen sporting turbans.

Amid sloganeering by Akali MLAs, Leader of the Opposition HS Phoolka submitted a motion demanding passage of a resolution seeking action against the desecration of the turban and the insult to Dalits.

However, Opposition MLAs descended into the well of the House and then staged a walkout when the Speaker asked them to raise the issue after question hour.

Later, AAP MLAs held a “mock session” outside the Assembly where they passed four resolutions, including condemning the desecration of the turban and the insult to Dalits and women, apart from flaying the Chief Minister and other Congress MLAs for continuing the session while turbans of the AAP MLAs were lying on the floor of the House.

They also passed resolution demanding the recovery of black money looted by the sand mafia during the tenure of the previous Akali government.

Meanwhile, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal said the Speaker should be unbiased, adding that his party had supported AAP because there was a violation of the maryada in the House yesterday.
