Cops seek DNA test of gang rape accused

LUDHIANA: The police on Saturday moved an application before a local court seeking permission to conduct the DNA tests of three accused in the gang rape case of a 21-year-old.

The police on Saturday moved an application before a local court seeking permission to conduct the DNA tests of three accused in the gang rape case of a 21-year-old.

Accused Sadiq Ali, Jagroop Singh and Surmo were produced before area magistrate around 12.45 pm amid heavy security.

SAD activists had hurled shoes on them when they were first produced in court.

Taking cognisance of the application, Judicial Magistrate Ankit Airi put off the matter till February 18.

The vaginal swabs of the victim were deposited with the FSL, Mohali, recently, said sources.

The police department was likely to move an application for test identification parade of accused persons, said a senior police officer.
