All seems not well in the Congress camp in Muktsar district as Gidderbaha MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, who was recently elevated as a political adviser to the Chief Minister, has filed a criminal case against his own party leader Sharanjit Singh Sandhu for allegedly defaming him on the social media.
Notably, the bitterness between the Congress leaders has augmented after the recent elections for the posts of chairperson and vice-chairperson of the Muktsar Panchayat Samiti. The Congress has a clear majority with 20 of the total 25 members but the SAD managed to win the post of vice-chairperson. Notably, the SAD leaders had supported one candidate of the Congress for the post of chairperson and in return, the same faction of the Congress had supported the SAD candidate in the election of vice-chairperson. Irate over it, Sharanjit Singh Sandhu, whose wife Gurwinder Kaur was among the frontrunners for the post of chairperson but lost the election, reportedly posted some comments on Facebook and accused Warring of being hand in glove with the Akalis and backstabbing his own party men.
Thereafter, Warring filed a complaint against Sharanjit, alleging that the latter had defamed him with his posts. In his complaint, Warring alleged, “Sharanjit is angry with me as his wife lost the election of chairperson of the Muktsar Panchayat Samiti. His posts on the social media have defamed me and a number of people called me after that. I had to issue a clarification.”
On this, Sandhu said, “I had sought the support of Warring for my wife’s election. However, during the poll, he played a game by hobnobbing with the Akalis. Thus, when Warring was given the Cabinet rank in the government, I posted some comments about his secret association with the Akalis.” — TNS
