Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal today said the party’s vote percentage had increased, which was a slap on the face of those who targeted them over the issue of sacrilege.

The DSGMC and the Delhi unit of the SAD today honoured Sukhbir and Harsimrat Kaur Badal for their win in the Lok Sabha elections.

“The Congress and other parties levelled allegations against us saying that we committed sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib. This was done to tarnish the image of the SAD. But the Guru has given decision in the favour of Akali Dal and destroyed those who levelled false allegations,” Sukhbir claimed.

In the 2017 Assembly elections, the SAD had secured 30 per cent votes, while in the Lok Sabha elections it secured 37 per cent votes, he said.
