Former Vigilance Bureau SSP Kanwarjit Singh Sandhu has moved a petition in the court seeking a hearing before verdict on the closure report is given by the court in the alleged multi-crore City Centre scam.

He has pleaded that he was a complainant in the case, for which a closure report has been filed by the VB. He claimed that he had conducted the preliminary investigation and registered the FIR when he was posted as SSP, Vigilance, Ludhiana.

He claimed that he was privy to certain important facts and wanted to inform the court about it. He has accused Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and former CM Parkash Singh Badal and his family of helping each other in their respective cases. He alleged that the process of cancellation of the FIR in the City Centre case was initiated during the regime of the Badals. “They have been misusing power to threat and intimidate public servants who investigated cases involving them,” read the application.

He alleged that the then SP, Vigilance, Surjit Singh Grewal and SSP, Vigilance, Shiv Kumar Sharma had already been booked in false cases.

Sandhu claimed that he too was pressured to support the cancellation report.

Sources said the former SSP was already facing a probe and he was setting negotiation terms to get bail in the event of registration of a criminal case against him.
