Dera Baba Nanak (Gurdaspur), May 30

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has directed Gurdaspur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abhinav Trikha to probe pilferage of power in Dera Baba Nanak. The Tribune yesterday highlighted that the complex housing the offices of the SDM, Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar in the town was being run on an illegal electricity connection (also known as ‘kundi’ connection in local parlance).

The DC confirmed that an inquiry had been ordered. “I am probing the matter. I have called for the relevant records. The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited officials have agreed to join the probe. I will not spare any of the erring officials,” he said.

The CM, in a press release, said “such acts of violation or negligence on the part of any public servant will not be tolerated”.
