Kotkapura, August 22

Accusing Capt Amarinder Singh of playing a friendly match with SAD leaders to hoodwink the people on the sacrilege issue, the AAP faction, led by former Leader of the Opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira, said despite the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission’s inquiry report indicting many Akali leaders and police officers, the state government was in no mood to take any action.

Addressing a gathering here on Wednesday, Khaira alleged that after a lot of hue and cry only four “selective” police officers were named as accused in the killing of two Sikh protesters but there was no arrest of any of these accused in the last over two weeks.

Accompanied by seven AAP rebel MLAs — including Kanwar Sandhu, Jagdev Singh Kamalu, Jai Krishan Rodi, Jagdev Singh Jagga Hisowal, Baldev Singh, Nazar Singh Mansahia and Pirmal Singh Dhaula — Khaira addressed the rally at the Grain Market here on Wednesday.

Khaira alleged that there was no sincere efforts by the AAP leaders to strengthen the party in the state as the sole agenda of some party leaders in the state was to target and weaken him in the last over one year.
