A video clip purportedly showing Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) president Charanjit Singh Chadha in a compromising position with a school principal has gone viral on social media. The CKD runs several senior secondary schools in the state, especially in border areas.

Over three months ago, Chadha had lodged a complaint against unidentified persons, who were seeking ransom for not making the video public. A case was registered in Jalandhar on September 20. One of the accused, Gursewak Singh, was arrested today, while three others had been nabbed earlier.

Former Congress leader Mandeep Singh Manna requested Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh to summon Chadha as the latter had denigrated a respected Sikh educational institute. In a communiqué to Police Commissioner SS Srivastava, he requested him to take action against Chadha for sexually harassing an employee at the workplace and for hurting religious sentiments.

Chadha, who also has stakes in the liquor and hotel business, was earlier accused of violating construction bylaws.

The CKD president said: “A fake video was made in connivance with certain political opponents of mine with the intention of extorting money and tarnishing my image. I was threatened by conspirators in my office in Jalandhar on September 20 and I immediately got a case registered.” He said the video was circulated after he refused to pay ransom of Rs 1 crore.
