Bathinda, August 7

Slamming the Sukhpal Khaira group for constituting an ad hoc committee, AAP state co-convener Dr Balbir Singh and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema on Tuesday said the rebel MLA had been talking of democracy, but himself resorting to autocracy.

Talking to the mediapersons, they said they would invite all party MLAs, including Khaira, to a meeting with the Punjab affairs incharge Manish Sisodia on August 13.

They said the party was gearing up for the panchayat elections, adding that they would hold a massive convention during AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal’s visit to Punjab in October.

On growing dissidence, Cheema said it happened in all political parties and they would sort out everything in a month. On Khaira’s claim that 95 per cent of the party workers were with him, he said: “It may appear so on social media, but the ground reality is different.” He, however, claimed that they would unite to defeat the Congress and the SAD in the Lok Sabha elections.

Dr Balbir Singh said he was in touch with Patiala MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi and they would make all the effort to bring all leaders on a single platform.
