Channi fails to clear PhD entrance test

Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has failed to clear PhD entrance test in political science, the result of which was declared by Panjab University recently.

Channi, 53, had earlier expressed the desire to do PhD on the history of the Indian National Congress.

The Chamkaur Sahib MLA and former Leader of the Opposition has a host of degrees. He is a law graduate from PU. In 2007, he enrolled in an MBA programme at Punjab Technical University. He completed the two-year course in 2009.

In 2012, he enrolled for MA in political science at PU. In December, 2016, he cleared his final semester exams in MA. On July 9, he appeared for PhD entrance test, but failed to qualify.

In the PhD entrance test, there are two papers. In the first paper, one has to get 55 per cent marks and in the second, 40 per cent.

When contacted, Channi said he was yet to check the result.
