A woman died on the spot and two others were grievously injured as the car they were travelling in reportedly rammed into a truck that was parked on the Sriganganagar highway near Abohar last night.

Preliminary investigation indicated that a Gobindgarh village family was returning home on Sunday night after paying obeisance at a religious place in Sriganganagar.

The truck’s dipper indicators were not working. The truck staff fled the scene. A pickup van halted there and shifted the victims to the Abohar Civil Hospital.

Surjit Kaur (43) was declared brought dead, while critically injured Mandeep Kaur and Iqbal Singh were admitted to the emergency ward. A case has been registered.
