Jalandhar, February 5

A man was killed, while his brother got injured when the two were shot at on the Ladowali Road here on Tuesday evening. The brothers used to run a shop of agricultural implements.

While elder brother Davinder Singh Sehra, alias Rinku (38), was declared brought dead at the Civil Hospital, younger one Kamalpreet Singh Sehra, alias Babbu, got injured.

The incident took place when both were sitting in their shop “Sehra Field” around 6.15 pm. At least five assailants came and opened fire on the duo.

Gaurav, a shopkeeper and eyewitness, said Sehra brothers along with their friend Pradeep Singh were in their shop when gangsters arrived on two motorcycles and a scooter and opened fire on them. They also attacked the victims with sharp weapons and left them badly wounded. He added that Rinku received five bullets in his chest and stomach and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Babbu received two bullets — one in the right leg and other in the left arm. There were injuries on his forehead too with sharp weapons. The doctors at the Civil Hospital shifted Babbu to a private hospital.

DCP (Investigation) Gurmeet Singh said the gangsters had old enmity with the victims. He said one of the accused had been identified as Jaspreet Bajwa, who has several cases registered against him.

Simran (22), nephew of Sehra brothers and resident of Basti Bawa Khel, said they had enmity with the gangsters for the past 10 years and they had also fought with him recently in the courts complex. He alleged that even after registering an FIR against the accused, no action was taken to nab them.
