Muktsar, July 17

At a time when the state government is trying hard to tackle the drug menace, a video of an Mohan Singh (ASI) posted at the district Police Lines here has gone viral in social media, wherein he is allegedly seen consuming “chitta” (synthetic drug) in a room in fields. Besides, a man sitting on the floor is also seen consuming drug and a policeman in uniform also standing in the same room.

In September last year, the ASI, Mohan Singh, was allegedly seen consuming drugs and was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) along with an aide with 50 gram of heroin after the duo, travelling in a car, jumped a naka near Chak Duhewala village on the Muktsar-Malout highway. He was that time posted at the Kotbhai police station here.

In 2012, he was booked in a case of corruption as well. Manjit Singh Dhesi, SSP, Muktsar, said, “I have seen the video and examining its authenticity. I am not going to shield anybody found involved into any illegal activity. The policeman seen in the video has a chequered past and already facing a narcotics case. He was even shifted from the police station to the district Police Lines after that case.”
