Tarn Taran, November 17

An ASI and a Home Guard jawan in Tarn Taran have been dismissed from service with immediate effect for consuming heroin. A video in this regard had gone viral a few days back. Dhruv Dahiya, SSP, identified the  sacked policemen as ASI Darshan Singh and Home Guard Tehal Singh.

They were deputed at a naka in Patti and were among 23 cops who failed the dope test conducted by the local Civil Hospital on November 14. “There is no place for addicts in a disciplined force,”  the SSP warned. “We are keeping a close watch on policemen consuming drugs,” he said. Three days ago, three cops were suspended after a video surfaced showing them taking money from truckers. — OC
