AAP files code violation plaint against Singla

CHANDIGARH: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema, has filed a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer against Cabinet minister Vijay Inder Singla for allegedly influencing voters of Sangrur by misusing his official position.

Ropar bans vehicles with mining material

Ropar: Deputy Commissioner Sumeet Jarangal on Tuesday issued orders to ban the plying of vehicles carrying mining material on the road from Kahanpur Khuhi, Jhajh chowk up to Anandpur Sahib and further to Garhshanker and Nangal. The road is in a dilapidated condition for the last few years. It was temporarily repaired a few days ago to make it motorable in view of Hola Mohalla. The ban has been imposed under the provisions of Section 144 of CrPC. It will remain in force till May 18. TNS

SIT seeks former SSP’s custody

Faridkot: The SIT on Tuesday sought the production warrants of former Moga SSP Charanjit Singh Sharma, who is presently lodged in the Patiala Central Jail. In an application before the court of Judicial Magistrate, Faridkot, the SIT demanded that further questioning of the former SSP was necessary to reach at the bottom of the conspiracy in the police firing at the protesters at Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan. After over two weeks of his custody with the SIT, Sharma was sent to jail last month. TNS
