The CIA staff here on Tuesday seized 525 kg of poppy husk that was smuggled from Madhya Pradesh through Rajasthan.

SSP Dr Ketan Baliram Patil said at a media briefing here on Wednesday that on a tip-off the CIA staff tried to intercept a car that was escorting a canter on the state highway, but the driver of the car sped away.

On searching the canter, 21 bags of poppy husk (each containing 25 kg) was seized. Driver Amarjot Singh of Rampura Phul in Bathinda district was arrested. His accomplices Gurjit Singh Jyond, Narinder Singh of Mandi Kalan and Satpal Dhingar were also booked under the NDPS Act.
