Moga, November 25

Despite Health Department’s stringent measures to control dengue, the mosquito-borne disease is spreading its tentacles in the district. A total of 332 patients have been diagnosed with dengue this year.

Harpreet Singh (30) of Dharamkot town in the district died of dengue on Friday. He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Ludhiana.

Officials of the Health Department claimed that the department had constituted many teams to check the disease. During the past one week, the joint teams of the Health Department and the Municipal Corporation found dengue larvae at 17 places in incomplete drains on the national highway, besides many other locations in Moga city.

Deputy Medical Commissioner Arvinder Singh Gill has urged people to take precautionary steps like not storing water without a cover-up, clean all water storage utensils once a week, wear full sleeve clothes and use mosquito nets to keep the disease at bay. — TNS
