Three vehicles carrying huge quantity of liquor were seized in different areas here and neighbouring Rajasthan on Thursday. The police intercepted a car having Delhi registration number near the interstate border and seized 480 bottles of liquor. Vicky of Sant Nagar, Sahil of Idgah Basti and Hardam Singh of Himmatpura village were nabbed, while their accomplice Gaurav of Sant Nagar fled away. A case has been registered against them.

A tractor-trailer was intercepted on the highway in neighbouring Rajasthan at 3 am on a tip-off. Sadulpur police station incharge Bhagwan Dass Meena said 287 cartons of country-made foreign liquor, having Punjab and Haryana labels, were recovered. It was concealed under marble waste. Driver Sukh Ram Bishnoi of Bhatia and cleaner Ladhu Ram of Sheetalbana village in Jallaur district have been arrested.

They feigned ignorance about the kind of consignment, but confirmed that the same was to be delivered in Gujarat.

In another raid on the highway the Rajasthan police seized 40 cartons of liquor that was smuggled from Haryana by intercepting a pickup van around 4.30 am. Driver Deen Dayal Swami of Kailash village has been held under the Excise Act.
