TARN TARAN: Three members of a family were murdered with sharp-edged weapons at Dhotian village, 12 km from here, last night.

Three members of a family were murdered with sharp-edged weapons at Dhotian village, 12 km from here, last night. The deceased have been identified as farmer Dalbir Singh, alias Gurdeep Singh (60), his wife Lakhwinder Kaur (58) and their daughter Manjinder Kaur (14).

Jashanpreet Kaur (7), another daughter of the deceased couple, was badly injured. She was admitted to the local Guru Nanak Dev Super Specialty Hospital. Her condition is stated to be critical.

Patti DSP Azad Devinder Singh said the reason for the murder was being investigated by the Sarhali police. Villagers said the family was sleeping in the courtyard of the house when the assailants attacked. Lakhwinder Kaur was fighting legal battle to get her share in the parental property.
