Sangrur, April 25

The Khanauri police arrested two persons allegedly involved in the rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl, whose body was recovered from near Gobindpura Chathe village on Wednesday.

The victim’s parents along with other relatives protested on the Patran-Jind road in Khanauri and demanded the arrest of other accused involved in the crime.

“The accused kidnapped the girl, raped her, murdered her and later tried to burn her body. But the police have registered a case against two persons, while other accused are still roaming free,” alleged Gobind Singh, a relative of the victim.

The girl belonged to Gulad village of Patiala district. She worked at a beauty parlour in Khanauri.

She went missing on April 22 and after her parents failed to trace her, they lodged a missing complaint with the Khanauri police.

After getting information about the protest, the Moonak DSP along with other cops reached the spot and pacified the protesters.

“We have arrested two persons, including Rachapal Singh and a minor boy. We have sent the boy to the observation home in Ludhiana and procured one-day remand of Rachpal and conducting further investigations,” said Kudeep Singh Virk, Moonak DSP.
