Abohar, June 13

A special court dealing with cases relating to atrocities on members of the SC/ST communities in Hanumangarh on Tuesday sentenced two persons to life imprisonment for killing a government school teacher over some money dispute. Both were also directed to pay a fine of Rs 25,000 each.

As per the FIR registered on October 1, 2014, Jai Dev had alleged that his father Rupa Ram Meghwal, a teacher at a government school, was told over phone to meet Angrej Singh of Daulatanwali and Rameshwar of Kohla village at the Fatehgarh minor. Later, his body was found near the canal. Investigations indicated that the deceased was unable to repay the money that he had borrowed from Rameshwar due to which both of them killed him. — OC
