3-year jail for carjacking

The Court of Additional Sessions Judge Rakesh Kumar has convicted Gurpreet Singh of Chakar village and Balwinder Singh of Jagraon on the charge of snatching car.

They were ordered to undergo imprisonment for three years. A fine of Rs 5,000 each was also imposed upon the convicts. A case against them was registered on June 5, 2015, at the Division No. 4 police station following the complaint of Parteek Kalhotia. The complainant had stated to the police that he was going in his white swift car towards Rajpura Chowk. The accused stopped his car and forcibly entered inside. Thereafter, they threw him out of the car, near Malikpur village. Later, the police investigated the case and arrested the accused and recovered the car also. — OC
