Lucknow, March 4

The Allahabad High Court has asked the Uttar Pradesh Government to explain why Urdu has not been included as a language option for the March 12 recruitment test for 65,500 assistant teachers.

Responding to a petition filed by one of the aspirants Mohammad Muntasim, Justice Ajay Bhanot directed the state counsel to provide information by March 7.

The petitioner’s counsel alleged the notification was arbitrary and violative of the petitioner’s right to equality, so either Urdu be included as an option or the exam be cancelled altogether. — TNS
